Mosaic Masterpiece at Tillydrone

Monday, July 22nd, 2019

Last week some final touches were added to the new Community Hub at Tillydrone in the shape of a mosaic designed by the Primary 7 pupils of Riverbank Primary School.

Assisted by Maggie from ‘Pretty Rubbish Mosaics’ the children based their mosaic around a tree design with each branch detailing things that make them happy and are important to them.  The mosaic is made from recycled glass and depicts various flowers, bugs and birds in addition to the name of the school and year.

The Riverbank School mosaic is now proudly displayed in the main foyer of the Community Hub bringing a ‘pop’ of colour to the open space.  Pictured above are Graham and Eddie from CHAP who were entrusted with the job of hanging the mosaic-masterpiece.  Also pictured with Graham and Eddie are Site Foreman Robbie and Maggie from Pretty Rubbish Mosaics.

CHAP Construction has been on site building the new multi-million pound hub next to the existing Community Centre in the Tillydrone area of Aberdeen for the past year.

The new facility on Hayton Road will be home to a variety of vital community services and leisure opportunities.  These include:  a new library, an activity space, community cafe, training kitchen, early learning, and childcare space.  Also included are emergency provisions for laundry and a food bank.  Essential Aberdeen City Council services are also planned to be delivered from the new facility.

Tillydrone Community Hub officially opens on Friday 23rd August 2019.
