Early Completion of Scalloway Fish Market Expected

Thursday, August 29th, 2019

CHAP Group have this week announced that the new Scalloway Fish Market is expected to be complete ahead of programme.

CHAP have been working on Shetland building the new facility on behalf of Shetland Islands Council since December 2018.  Initially programmed for completion in March 2020, Mark Anderson, Contracts Manager at CHAP Group said:

“We are targeting completion and hand-over in mid-December 2019, some 3 months ahead of schedule.”

The £5.6 million market will replace the temporary chilled facility which has been in use since the demolition of the previous fish market which originally stood on the site.  While the temporary landing facilities have been praised by local fishermen, it will be an added boost to the islands to have their new facility ahead of schedule.
