CHAP Group was delighted to host Cllr Steven Rome and Dundee City Council representatives, Robin Presswood, Executive Director of City Development and Gregor Hamilton, Head of Planning & Economic Development. at our Dundee Student Accommodation site, Stanley Studios.
Paul Matthew, Tayside Construction Director for CHAP Group, walked our visitors through the development and showed them progress at the adjacent Phase 2 development where demolition works are underway.
Dundee City Council has a very proactive approach, welcoming engagement throughout the development process, so it was a privilege to welcome them on site to show how the project is progressing safely, on programme and on budget.
Paul said, “Stanley Studios is the first project to be delivered in this area and we have seen first-hand the impact this has had on the area as other projects start to come online. These projects are revitalising this once vibrant area of Dundee, fostering a sense of growth within Dundee City while bolstering its reputation as a destination for learning and innovation.”
Cllr Steven Rome, Dundee City Council convener of Fair Work, Economic Growth and Infrastructure, added “I was impressed to see how work on this important development for the city is advancing. We are keen to ensure that Dundee continues to be an attractive place for students to come and study. Projects like this also provide a boost for local companies and help to deliver our vision of community wealth building.”
Whilst on site, Paul demonstrated the value Stanley Studios has brought to Dundee through local employment and the use of CHAP’s ever growing local supply chain within the Tayside Region. Local sub-contractors are active across both Stanley Studios and the adjacent development at Douglas Street. This provision of local employment to contractors is helping to grow the circular economy within Dundee, providing stable employment and opportunities for the city’s residents.
