This project was awarded to CHAP Group (Aberdeen) Ltd in October 2018.
Works started on site in December 2018 and reached completion in December 2019 – some 3 months ahead of schedule.
The original Scalloway fish market, which was built in the 1970’s and refurbished and extended in the 1990s, was demolished and replaced with a state-of-the-art building.
A new facility was desperately needed as the amount of fish being landed rose by 600% between 2004 and 2015. Vessels were often turned away and were unable to land their catch due to lack of capacity.
