O&M Base – Ocean Winds

New Build Operations & Maintenance Base located on the Harbour Front in Buckie

Construction of a new office, workshop and operations base for Ocean Winds and Moray West Windfarm, providing clean energy to the north of Scotland.

CHAP constructed the new Operations & Maintenance Base for Ocean Winds and Moray West Windfarm to assist in managing their operations within the Moray Firth, aiding the provision of clean energy to the North of Scotland. The building itself houses office space, operative changing and welfare facilities, collaboration and learning space as well as a workshop, meeting spaces and a control room to manage operations. With the project being designed to manage offshore wind farm activities sustainability was key in the design and management. Waste reduction took a priority alongside ensuring the facility was as energy efficient as possible.

  • Enhanced U-values were achieved on the external envelope, improving the building heating and energy efficiency.
  • Triple Glazing is being installed throughout the facility reducing heat loss and improving energy efficiency.
  • Air source heat pumps are being utilised to heat the building, providing a more efficient and environmentally friendly heating solution.
  • PV panels are being installed on the roof to provide a clean energy source to the building. Unused energy will be reverted back to the grid, reducing the building carbon footprint.
