An essential component of the prestigious Aberdeen Bay Windfarm project
This project consisted of c.8km of duct installation. Laid in farmland, verges and carriageway this 8km stretch of duct crossed several deep ditches, an 800m stretch of wetland and multiple water courses.
The 8km stretch of duct work helped connect the new substation at Blackdog to the existing substation at Dyce.
The ducts were laid in high-specification cement bound sand (CBS), sourced from CHAP’s own Quarries division.
In addition to the ducts for the electricity cables, a parallel telecommunications duct, complete with chambers was also installed.
CHAP was also responsible for the construction and removal of all temporary access/haul roads.
