Refurbishment of Student Facilities University of Aberdeen
A Complex Refurbishment Project


This project forms an essential part of the overall redevelopment of the Hillhead of Seaton Campus – a 3 year development plan adopted to bring the University Buildings up to standard to meet their ambitions for student experiences.

Works included extensive structural alterations, internal and external refurbishment of a large student facility building together with an extension to provide new reception and circulation areas, offices, music, computer and prayer rooms, storage facilities, a cafe/bar, restaurant and recreational facilities complete with new internal finishes, electrics, data, ventilation , fixtures and fittings.  The formation of a roof top plant area together with external envelope works and landscaping were also incorporated.  The University remained operational throughout the construction works.

Contractor Design Elements included: Steel connections; Photovoltaic Cells; Natural Ventilation; BMS and Controls.

The project was awarded with a Considerate Contractor “Beyond Compliance” Certificate and subject to BREEAM Assessment.
