Aberdeen City Council and Sport Aberdeen awarded CHAP Group the contract to extend and refurbish the Swimming Pool and leisure facility in Northfield. The project was completed mid 2022 with the new facilities seeing a spike in membership and community use.
CHAP Group undertook the £3.9m extension and redevelopment of Northfield Swimming pool in September 2021.
Works included the down taking of existing entrance and changing facilities, followed by the forming of the new steel-framed extension. A complete overhaul of the external wall cladding and roof was also carried out. Internally new changing and shower areas were formed alongside a new state-of-the-art reception area and 40-piece fitness studio.
Updated mechanical and electrical systems were installed whilst externally the existing car park was reconfigured to better suit the increased use the leisure centre would see. Finally internal & external decoration was completed to a high standard as well as soft and hard landscaping.
The project was delivered tot he client within a 50 week period. Since re-opening the facility has seen a large increase in memberships reflecting the project success and Sport Aberdeen’s commitment to delivering for local communities.
