Foreman / Ganger (Civils)

We seek a Foreman or Ganger to join the sites supervision/leadership team within our Civil Division. This is a hands-on site based role and will entail working on assigned sites anywhere within North East Scotland.  A company van will be provided.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities include:

  • Front line supervision / leadership of a small team.
  • Cable and duct installation work.
  • Reinforced concrete work.
  • Drainage works.
  • Road and footway construction.
  • General labouring work, eg digging, paving and concreting.
  • Delegation of tasks to appropriate team members.
  • Ensuring quality control of all work carried out on site.
  • Undertaking toolbox talks and site inductions.
  • Record site information and records.
  • Working in accordance with risk assessments and method statements.  Also ensuring others in the team are aware of  and undertake their duties and responsibilities with regard to these.



Essential Criteria

  • Competent in undertaking a range of Civil Engineering works to an acceptable and consistently high standard.
  • Demonstrate good Supervisory/leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence, persuade, guide and motivate others.
  • Good communication skills in English.
  • Ability to problem solve and deal with operational issues, opportunities and challenges.
  • Able to forward plan site activities in relation to labour, plant and materials.
  • Experienced and competent in the utilization of relevant equipment and machinery on site.




  • CSCS card
  • Drivers licence, preferably clean


  • Management/Supervisory qualification NVQ/SVQ level 3 or 4, or equivalent (already holds/ currently undertaking/willing to undertake).
  • Minimum 2 years project supervising experience including directing site works and project management.
